Праздник белого цветка (White Flower Festival) by Elena Litvyak – 36 pages

In 2014, a unique children’s book Праздник белого цветка (White Flower Festival) by Elena Litvyak was published by the St Elizavetinsky Monastery Publishing House in Russia. The book is a collection of short stories about the daily life of the Holy Royal Martyrs.

In a recent article published in Pravoslavie.ru Maria Minaeva writes: “I began reading to my daughter: “Once upon a time there lived a tsar, a tsarina and their five children. Do you think this is a fairy tale? No, this is not a fairy tale. A long time ago, we had a tsar in Russia. Not imaginary, but real …”

Through her stories, Elena Litvyak explains to children about the daily lives of the Imperial family, World War One, the revolution, the abdication of Nicholas II, and about the deaths and martyrdom of the Imperial Family.

Of particular interest in this 36-page book are the beautiful watercolor sketches from vintage photographs, some of which are presented below, courtesy of the St Elizavetinsky Monastery Publishing House:
